No single anti-virus software alone is.

I can give you the ability to actually LAUGH at viruses or any and all other malicious software attacks.  Protect your working computer NOW, so that when you eventually are infected,  your computer can be completely returned to pre-infected status in as little as 20 minutes.  Without comprehensive planning BEFORE an infection, restoration is a time consuming and expensive job, and data loss is likely.  You can also be protected from a hard drive failure as well.

Viruses and other types of malicious software intrusions are close to impossible to prevent for most computer users, myself included.  Despite diligent use of the highest rated anti-virus / security products available, either fee based or free, most users who visit the Internet will eventually suffer the effects of a computer “virus”.  In fact, some of you who are reading this currently have malicious software affecting your computer right now, you probably do not even know you have it, but it is likely there.     

Once your system is noticeably “infected”, it is frequently difficult or impossible to “remove” the virus or other malicious software.  Virus removal software in my opinion and experience is hit or miss at best.  I have many customers who have recently paid for virus removal, only to have the same problem return a week or even just days later.  Viruses can appear to be gone, but merely be disabled temporarily, hidden in your computer, but eventually back in action.  The ONLY WAY TO BE GUARANTEED 100% VIRUS FREE is to completely erase your hard drive and reinstall Windows and all of your other software.  Depending on the type of system restoration disks, if you can find them, that came with your computer when you bought it, and how much additional software you have installed since, erasing and restoring your computer can take many hours, be expensive, and you are likely to have lost data.  DON’T LOSE YOUR PRECIOUS FAMILY PHOTOS!

It seems that many computer repair companies are more than willing to “remove” viruses from your computer as many times and as frequently as you are willing to pay them good money to do so.  They are also leaving out an important step that will minimize or even eliminate the expense of a repeat infection.

I believe in a two-step plan to deal with viruses, and minimize the cost to you for future infections, or even hard drive failures.

1. Antivirus software to attempt to prevent virus attack.  Kaspersky Internet Security is my PREFERRED security software.
2. A well planned disk imaging and data backup system so that when a virus eventually does attack, your system can be restored to “pre-virus” condition in about an hour, with absolutely no loss of data or functionality.  If you have Windows 7, the only other components are an external hard drive and my services!     ***** I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS STEP FOR ALL WORKING COMPUTERS, INCLUDING THOSE THAT ARE BRAND NEW, if your computer and data are important to you.

Generally these backups can be automated so that you don’t need to do anything until if and when your system becomes infected.  Restoration is fairly simple in Windows 7 and many users would be able to perform the system restoration themselves.  I would personally perform the restoration within the first year at no additional charge, and at reduced labor rates thereafter.
